First Year Robotics:
Robotics is an introductory course where you will learn the fundamental skills to design, program, and develop the electronics to engineer your own robot.
Using a variety of resources and software, including virtual bots, Sphero robots, VEX and FIRST robotic kits, students will complete a series of projects in order to learn the fundamentals of digital circuits and both block- and text-based programming. Students will have the opportunity to design and build a number of robots to solve autonomous and driver-controlled tasks.
Second Year Robotics:
Using a variety of resources and software, including VEX and/or FIRST robotic kits, sensors, gears and motors, students will complete a series of projects in order to learn the fundamentals of programming platform, robotic elements and logic based programming. Students will have the opportunity to design and build a number of robots to solve autonomous and driver-controlled tasks.
Third & Fourth Year Robotics:
Using a variety of resources and software, including VEX, FIRST robotics and Arduino sets, students will complete a series of projects in order to develop understanding of the fundamentals of robotic subsystems, relationship of structure, digital circuits and programming. Students will have the opportunity to design and build a number of autonomous and driver-controlled robots to solve a real-world problem.
OUTSIDE THE TIMETABLE ROBOTICS
We are excited to offer Robotics 10-12 outside the timetable, new for 2024-2025.
Students will work Tuesday and Fridays afterschool to focus on five areas:
- Mechanical
- Electronics
- Programming
- Strategy
- Community Outreach
This group will build a robot for competition in the First Robotics Tech Challenge in Regionals (end of January), and if qualified, compete in Provincials (February) and World Championships (March).
Experience with robotics is helpful but not required.
