Anatomy and Physiology 12

Credits: 4

This is an advanced and comprehensive Biology course that focuses on biochemistry, human anatomy and physiology. Human digestion, circulation, respiration, excretion, reproduction and the overall control by the nervous system, enzymes and hormones will be examined.

The Big Ideas for this course are:

  • Homeostasis: The body strives to maintain homeostasis through many complex interconnected processes.
  • DNA and Cells: All living things are made of cells, which contain DNA and cell structures that allow cells to survive and reproduce.  Cellular processes including gene expression and intra-cellular transportation will be explored.
  • Organization: Organ systems have complex interrelationships to maintain homeostasis.

Evaluation is based on (but not limited to): assignments, lab reports, project work, tests, dissections and a final examination.

Recommended: Life Sciences 11 and/or Chemistry 11
