Explorations in Social Studies 11

This exciting course will allow students the opportunity to explore a variety of interesting 20th Century topics and current events.  This inquiry based class will focus on learning through media (film, art, music, etc.) to examine and engage with such topics as social movements, violent conflicts, the impact of scientific and technological breakthroughs, and the pursuit of freedom around the globe.  Regions studied may include China, Korea, Africa, Japan , South and Central America, and the Middle East, Europe, Russia and the United States post 1990.  Student interest will guide areas of focus.

Grade 11 students planning on taking History 12 and Comparative Cultures 12 would benefit from taking this course.
