Physics 12 builds on the concepts from classical mechanics that were introduced in Physics 11. New areas introduced include circular motion, torque, electo-magnetism, and Einstein’s Special Theory of Relativity. The course takes an investigative approach to the topics, with inquiry-based labs.
The Big Ideas include:
- Measurement of motion with particular attention to frame of reference
- Forces and how they relate to linear and circular motion
- Fields and their relationship to forces and energy
- Linear momentum and its conservation
Evaluation is based on (but not limited to): assignments, lab reports, tests, quizzes and a school-wide final examination.
Recommended: Physics 11 with at least a B and Math 11 Pre-Calculus with at least a B.
